RACING CAR OIL PAINTING No1
Painted in oils on what is believed to be old plywood from tea chests, this painting, as with another listed separately, was in a now defunct automobilia museum. The printed paper label to the back is the museum’s own info on the painting… “We were told that these pictures were painted by a prisoner in Changi. It was either in war time or immediately post-war (in which case a Japanese prisoner)
The cars are identifiable and still exist although the colours are wrong. We think the chassis numbers were 1567 and 2544.”
Both paintings are in good overall condition, although the boards are slightly warped. This example has a visible signature as per photo.
Both paintings are the same size, but one has been painted in landscape format and the other (above) in portrait format.
