ITALIAN PAPIER MÂCHE CARMÉLITE NUN

A beautiful Carmelite nun of large proportions, early 19th Century Italian statue made of papier mâche with wonderful glass eyes, the plinth of painted wood in original colours.
Standing 98cm tall, she is serene and imposing and holds the sacred heart in her left hand.
Wear commensurate with age, some old restorations, but still sturdy and complete.
A lovely mother o pearl cross on her chest, most probably a later addition.
