LEAPING PIG TERRACOTTA COAT OF ARMS
A very unusual late 19th Century French terracotta plaque of a crest, housed in its original red velvet frame, featuring a pig leaping over a shield containing the letter ‘J’
A Latin inscription on the banner reads: “Perfidem et porcos hones” which literally translates as “Treachery and honourable pigs”, an unknown and fictitious Latin proverb, the meaning of which was probably only known by the creator of this singular piece!
Height 39cm. Width 36.5cm
