A very striking and impressive late 19th Century hardwood bureau in the Chinese taste, boldly and deeply carved in relief with sinuous dragons on all 4 sides,
within borders filled with trailing floral ornament, bats and geometric motifs.
Twin shaped panels to top, the slope enclosing two pigeon holes, two small drawers and shelves enclosed by a rising panel, fitted three long drawers under, on square feet.

Original label to the interior: Ganemede, wood carver & papier mache maker, Srinagar, Kashmir, India.
A rare find, in untouched country house condition, some fading and a few imperfections with time, but generally good and original with no repairs.
