A most unusual large size mid 19th Century French wall mirror, mahogany frame inlaid with specimen woods, the ebony letter ‘N’ in a central cartouche at the base of the mirror and repeated on each corner of the frame, standing for the Emperor Napoleon III and denoting its time of manufacture circa 1850. A very smart looking mirror, enhanced by the fact it’s of landscape format and of fairly large proportions. The original mirror plate has remained, which is nicely foxed but not overly so, and adds to its character and originality. Condition is fine, no losses, and the back is original and complete. Possibly an apprentice piece? One of my favourite purchases.
